‘TO BE FREE IS VERY SWEET’
“To Be Free Is Very Sweet” is the culmination of two years of extensive research into her ancestral history and the legacy of colonialism and its impact on the Caribbean diaspora.
The project centres around exploring domination, suffering and pleasure within the black body; and focuses on using materiality and paradox to create artefact, sculptures and clothing that confront the audience with the realities of life for marginalised communities, past, present, and future.
